About Bolna AI

Bolna AI was co-founded in 2024 by Maitreya Wagh, an IIT Delhi graduate who previously worked at Bain & Company and Probo, and Prateek Sachan, who has engineering experience at Zomato, BrowserStack, and Atlassian. Y Combinator rejected Bolna's application five times before finally accepting them into the Fall 2025 batch, initially skeptical that Indian enterprises would pay for voice AI. The founders proved them wrong. By the time they were accepted, they had crossed $25,000 in monthly revenue. Bolna runs an orchestration layer that picks the best-fit AI model for the language, accent, latency budget, and use case on every single call, and re-routes as better models arrive. The model is rented. The orchestration is owned. Key capabilities: • 10+ Indian languages, 50+ accents including Hinglish, mid-conversation language switching • Sub-500ms latency, fast enough to feel human • Self-serve for SMBs (live in minutes from transcripts and FAQs) and forward-deployed engineers for enterprises • Integrates with 20+ ASR, LLM, and TTS models, not locked to any single provider Bolna has raised $6.3M from General Catalyst and is handling over 200,000 calls per day, approaching $700,000 in ARR. Clients include Spinny, Snabbit, GoKwik, and Awign. In May 2026, Bolna became India's only launch partner for OpenAI's GPT-Realtime-2 and Realtime-Whisper models, a significant milestone for an Indian voice AI company.
