Portkey is a full-stack LLMOps platform that acts as a control plane for teams building production-grade AI applications. It gives AI teams everything they need to go to production: an AI Gateway, Observability, Guardrails, Governance, and Prompt Management, all in one platform. The gateway connects to 250+ AI models through a single consistent API, with load balancers, automated fallbacks, caching, conditional routing, and multimodal support built in. The platform processes over 500 billion tokens daily and handles 125 million requests every 24 hours across more than 24,000 organisations globally. In a landmark validation, Palo Alto Networks announced its intent to acquire Portkey in April 2026, with plans to integrate it as the AI Gateway for its Prisma AIRS security platform. Portkey was founded in April 2023 by Rohit Agarwal and Ayush Garg. Agarwal spent years at Freshworks leading product and AI, and later at Pepper Content building one of India's early GPT-3-powered writing tools, experiencing firsthand the chaos of managing LLMs in production. The company raised $3 million in seed funding in late 2023, followed by $15 million in a Series A led by Elevation Capital, bringing total funding to $18 million. Now being acquired by one of the world's largest cybersecurity companies, Portkey is one of the clearest examples of Indian founders building foundational AI infrastructure for the global market.
