About Soket AI

Soket AI is a Gurugram-based AI research lab founded in 2019 by Abhishek Upperwal (IISc graduate, former data scientist) with a mission to build frontier intelligence that is efficient, ethical, and equitable — from code to deployment. Its flagship program, Project EKΛ, is backed by the IndiaAI Mission and targets sovereign-scale foundational models: a 120B+ parameter sparse MoE architecture advancing frontier math, code, and reasoning alongside multilingual AI for Indian and Global South languages. The lab collaborates with academic partners including IIT Gandhinagar and IIT Roorkee on large-scale training and low-resource language research. Soket's open-source releases include Pragna-1B — a 1.25B-parameter multilingual foundational model built with Google Cloud supporting Hindi, Gujarati, Bengali, and English — and Dhrith, a next-generation ASR model tuned for code-switched Indian speech with emotional and rhythmic nuance. Research is published openly through the COOM framework and public blogs. Commercially, Soket monetises TensorStudio, a real-time voice agent API built on fine-tuned Pragna models for sales, service, and marketing workflows. The company positions itself as India's bet on foundational LLMs and ethical AGI — made in India, open where possible, and designed for the world's 8 billion people rather than English-only benchmarks.
